There're have so many shops in Shopping centre like Vincom A & B, Crescent Mall, Bitexco Financial Tower..etc
You can also visit some local shops, the costume is designed by VietNamese. Find it in Nguyen Trai Street, Le Thanh Ton Street..etc. Ask locals if you have any questions, Vietnamese's very friendly, they'll help you
or you can go to the market(bazaar) ( Russian Market, Ben Thanh Market..etc)
About local foods, You can find it in everywhere you go, especially street foods.

If you want to try Vietnamese desserts, I suggest you should seek for local dessert shop, such as:

"Xôi, Chè Bùi Thị Xuân" at 111 Bùi Thị Xuân street is very popular among locals. It's near Pham Ngu Lao street.

Or, "kem nhãn" - Vietnamese Nhãn ice-cream on Trương Hán Siêu street. It's near Emperor Jade Temple.

Also, there are many Chinese "chè" shops in China town.
