Hi, i'm planning a trip to taiwan for a week, free and easy. I would like to travel out of taipei. I'm deciding between places like taichung or taitung or kaoshung. May i know the travelling hours by train? Any recommended theme parks for adults?

hence you are already planning go south, i'd recommend Tainan 台南 for you. Its a historical city mixed with contemporary design. most importantly, it has lots of tasty traditional snacks.
