Yu-san was an excellent guide. I had a comfortable and enjoyable time on his tour which was akin to hanging out with a friend. And despite being tired and very busy with his own business, he replies really quickly to all my queries and had kindly offered various suggestions to places I could visit that he could bring me to. He also taught me how to navigate on the Tokyo bus system which helped me discover even more parts of Tokyo that's off the touristy track (since I'm already familiar with the trains). I would definitely recommend Yu if you're looking for a friendly and accommodating guide. All the best with your business, Yu-san!
I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Yu! I was only in tokyo for 3 days, after having been in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. I wanted to see a few specific sites in Tokyo from a local's perspective. Yu was the perfect match. He's a Tokyo native, knows the city well, is well-traveled, and is incredibly courteous, happy, and energetic. His english is excellent.
We spent a Saturday morning together tailored around my interests. We started in Asakusa. He took me around the Senso-ji Temple, shops, and the Japanese professional cookware stores. He was so generous and bought Japanese rice crackers for us to snack on along the way.
We then visited the Tsukiji fish market. We explored the area and he pointed out a few important sites. We ate a delicious sushi lunch (best sushi I've ever had). For dessert, we ate the biggest raw oysters I've ever seen. So good!
He answered most of my questions with ease, and in the rare case that he didn't know the answer, he looked it up quickly on his iphone.
It seemed more like I was hanging out with a new local friend as opposed to following a paid tour guide - not because of a lack of knowledge/insight, but because he's a very easy person to be around and it was very low key. I really appreciated how he was flexible and tailored the tour to my interests. Thanks, Yu! This was worth every penny (and more). Without hesitation, I give him my highest recommendation.
