There are so many places to visit in Bangkok it is difficult to tell you. Depending on what you are interested in seeing there is a wide variety of cultural, shopping, eating and partying places to visit.
Hotels in Bangkok are not expensive when you compare to Korea or Indonesia - and they have many services to care for you.

Depends on your budget on hotel. You can go for good 3-4 stars hotel or cheap hostel around 300-400 Baht a night. I would recommend Suneta Hostel Khao San Road.
